DoroBucci Dance Company, Princeton University's premier African dance group, which was founded in 2015, was intended to be a site for celebrating African dance and a space for community, connection, and culture. DoroBucci is a community of dancers performing movement from across the African diaspora and celebrating cultural history and tradition. Beyond being a dance group, DoroBucci has provided support for students and enhanced broader knowledge and dialogue, through workshops and events like Sakata, an intercollegiate dance competition celebrating the beauty of African dance.

 

Black Arts Company (BAC) is Princeton University's premier hip-hop dance company. It was started in 1990 with the goal to bring awareness on campus of different forms of cultural expression from the African diaspora. BAC produces a wide range of dance originating from hip-hop to traditional African movement to jazz-funk and much more. Along with new productions every semester, the company hosts workshops and other events to teach various forms of movement and honor the history of hip-hop.

​Sankofa, an annual African fashion show completely produced and run by Princeton students, is an event highlighting fashion, beauty, and culture from different areas across the African diaspora. With a new theme every year, the Princeton community gathers to view pieces made by students and other talented artists, using materials that hold cultural meaning, and modeled by Princeton students. It is a night of reflection, celebration, and community.
